Higher Education

The higher education witnessed its development in-depth . There are 16 universities and colleges (8 full-time undergraduate universities, 1 vocational colleges, 1 adult colleges, and Software College of Zhejiang University which is charged by Ningbo Education Bureau) in Ningbo. Among them there is one “Double-First Class” university, one pilot applied technology university for integration development of industry and education project, four universities of the first batch of provincial level construction, Six pilot and demonstration applied technology universities and five provincial level pilot and demonstration applied technology universities. There are 177,000 full-time students in regular colleges and universities (excluding the Marine Police College), of whom 10000 are undergraduates, 69,000 are vocational college students, 8,424 are full-time postgraduate students and 52,000 students are in adult education. There are 9,375  full-time teachers in universities aand colleges including 10 full-time academicians, 4089 teachers have titles of professor or associate professor and 3410 teachers hold PhD degrees.
